Comparing Flood beam with Focus beam
To understand the difference between a flood beam and a focus beam, just look at the two pictures below:
(the two pictures were taken at the same time with identical camera setting).
FOCUS BEAM: Lanshi-C8 (250 Lumen):
The focus beam with just 250 Lumen throws light far out and to achieve distance, the beam is quite narrow. (the picture does not show a small amount of flood light that is also present with the focus beam)
Flood Beam: MagicShine PD800 (900 Lumen):
On the other hand the flood beam is much wider and “floods” the immediate surrounding with light. however, to achieve a similar throw distance, the PD800 has a light output of 900 Lumen. In this case the power of the PD800 beam is quite remarkable and not too far off the output one might expect from a car light.
