Fenix PD32 LED torch review – Part I
My very first impression out of the box was: WOW, it’s small, …it’s really compact !

Fenix PD32 - 315 Lumen LED Torch
Checking the spec, this LED flashlight measures a mere 5″ x 1″. no wonder it fits so neatly in the hand.
I also like a small torch because I can carry it with me anywhere. It fits neatly in any of my pockets. I don’t feel it and it doesn’t weigh me down.

The question now in my mind is: with such a small size, will it deliver the power ? (… more on this in part ll)
The overall presentation of the product is excellent. A real quality feel to the PD32 which we have come to expect from Fenix …no surprises there !!
The workmanship is immaculate. Looking into the head, the smooth reflector is without a single blemish and the Cree XP-G LED (R5) is perfectly centred.

As I write this review, I have now been using the PD32 for a couple of weeks, taking the LED torch with me everywhere I go. I did not spare it and yet, it still looks as new as when I took it out of the box. “Durable Type III hard-anodized, anti-abrasive finish” are not just fancy words after all.

Unlike other LED tactical lights out there, the PD32 has a second body mounted switch that controls the different power level of the light as well as the SOS and Strobe modes. Some people might prefer all the functions of the torch to reside on one switch but I must say, I do like this presentation because it makes the torch easier to operate when one does not need to switch power modes too frequently during use.

The great thing about the PD32 is that you can swap the Li-ion rechargeable battery for 2 CR123A Lithium batteries. I find that very useful because you cannot always depend on rechargeable batteries if you are out in the sticks where you cannot recharge a Li-ion battery. Also you cannot always tell when you are going to run out of charge on a particular battery so having a set or two of Lithium batteries is great for back up.

The PD32 LED torch comes with a free holster, lanyard, body clip, two separate O-rings and, exclusive with LED Powerhouse, an 18650 Li-ion rechargeable battery and charger.
